BII-1070 is designed to amplify weak signals resulting from the propagation loss (spreading and attenuation loss): Ultrasonic Flaw/Flow Detection, Seafloor Mapping System, Multibeam Imaging Sonar, Sidescan Sonar, Echosounder, Underwater Velocimeter, Doppler Sonar (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler), etc...

How to choose -3dB cut-off frequency of band pass filter in BII-1070 series:
When BII-1070 is used in active Sonar system, its cut-off frequency shall match the bandwidth of the known Sonar signals as close as possible. With appropriate band pass filter, BII-1070 can attenuate the unwanted noises and improve the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) prior to signal detection.

How to calculate self-noise voltage level of BII-1070 series:
Output Self-Noise Voltage Level = Gain * square root[∫(Total Input Noise Density*Total Input Noise Density)df].  f: frequency in Hz
Output Self-Noise Voltage Level is proportional to the bandwidth of the preamplifier.

Technical notes
The cable has adverse effects on the signal quality in high frequency range. The longer the cable is, the worse the adverse effects is. If you use long cable in your project, you may specify customized output impedance of BII's preamplifiers to match cable impedance and the DAQ input impedance, for example, customized 50 ohms output impedance of BII preamplifier for 50 ohms RG58 coax of DAQ system.
