BII-7060 series vector hydrophones (Pressure Gradient Hydrophone or Dipole Hydrophone) are sensitive to both the amplitude and the direction of the acoustic wave, and provide cosine or "figure 8" directivity patterns. The particle velocity can be calculated with the gradient of the pressure. Besides, biaxial dipole and triaxial dipole can be set up with multiple BII-7060s.

BII vector hydrophones consist of two elements (or two identical hydrophones) with small probes and one signal processing unit. The small probes cause little disturbances to the sound field under test.

Several mounting options are available to the elements, which support installation on portable mounting apparatus and the wall/hull of underwater submersibles, pipes, tanks, vessels and instrument housing.
