BII-7080 series are custom-fit programmable-sensitivity hydrophones whose frequency range and directivity are customized according to the applications. The hydrophone sensitivity is digitally or manually selected with three lines (A0, A1 and Digital COMMON), which is CMOS/TTL-compatible and power supply rail-compatible. In applications of the active Sonar and sound-source tracking (marine animals, acoustic beacon, pingers, locator, acoustic tags...), the sound level at detection spot varies greater than 40dB (60 dB or higher) because of the variation of propagation loss, target strength, source level, etc... The sound level could be too high or too low for sensitivity-fixed hydrophones. BII's programmable sensitivity hydrophone is one of the solutions to solve the issue.
