BII-7190  Directional Hydrophone (Fan/Wedge-shaped Beam)

BII-7190 series directional hydrophones have fan/wedge-shaped beam for use in detection and search of sound sources such as leaking pipelines, marine animals, acoustic beacons/pingers/locators, acoustic tags, etc.... Its fan-shaped beam covers large area underwater to detect and track the presence and location of sound sources. Two BII-7190s can be used to set up "T" type cross array functioning as a manual or mechanical Target Angle Estimation System. Multiple BII-7190s can be wired in parallel electrically to set up a longer line array for reducing Along-length Beam Width in low frequency range.

Usable frequency of BII-7190 series ranges from 5kHz to 300kHz which covers the frequency range of most sound sources underwater. To search low-frequency sound sources of less than 5kHz, discrete hydrophones can be used in linear, planar array or volume array of direction-finding system. To search the known sound sources, a band pass filter is recommended to work with BII-7190 series hydrophone to reject the noises.

Besides BII-7190 can work with fixed-gain preamplifier (such as BII-1010, BII-1060, BII-1050) to increase the sensitivity and drive long cable, it can also work with the programmable-gain preamplifier BII-1090 as a programmable-sensitivity hydrophone in field, and its sensitivity can be selected manually or with digital signal according to the underwater sound strength.

Optional mounting parts are available for installation on portable-mounting apparatus, submersibles, pipe, tank or vessel, or being towed with a boat.
